Vineyards
Tbilvino
The Tbilvino winery was first established in 1962. It was privatised in 1995 and in 1999; a completely new management team took over bringing fresh ideas. The winery has a young local team of winemakers who have benefited from working with several consultants from Australia, and from Italy, giving both new and old world perspectives, and helping them make the most of their potential.

Teliani Valley
Teliani valley was established in 1997 in the highly-regarded area on Tsinandali at the heart of the country’s best viticultural region. The winery sees itself as the successor of Georgian traditions, but interpreted using modern technology and with the help of a bright young team. In 2004, a brand new winery was completed, with support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. It was equipped with all the most modern technology from Western Europe, and new vineyards were planted in all of Georgia’s best micro zones. Teliani won a major award as Georgia’s best medium-sized enterprise in 2005 and has set up the country’s first school for sommeliers.

Telavi Wine Cellar
Founded in 1915, Telavi Wine cellar combines the best of Georgian tradition
with a modern outlook. Many of their wines are sold under the brand name “Marani” which
means a small wine cellar – regarded as a sacred place to Georgians as
it is where the grapes are transformed into wine, a drink at the heart
of Georgian culture and hospitality.
Aussie flying winemaker David Morrison has been consulting here since
1998, bringing state of the art techniques to enhance rather than overwhelm
Georgia’s unique wine heritage. The winery was transformed and totally
re-equipped in 1997 and now owns 450 hectares of its own vineyards in the
Alazani Valley in the heart of Georgia’s best known wine region of Kakheti. Overlooking
the river, with an altitude of 200 to 500m and protected by the towering
heights of the Caucasus Mountains, this is a superb location for growing
grapes with sunny days and cool nights, and the winery even has its own
nursery to ensure the quality of its young vine plants.
