Teliani Valley – Manavi
One of Georgia’s best white grapes is Mtsvane, whose name actually means green because of the colour of the fruit even when ripe. Manavi is the name of one of Kakheti’s appellation zones, and the wine has been made from 100% Mtsvane. It has been fermented in French oak and aged on fine yeast lees to give it extra weight and complexity, resulting in this fine elegant dry white wine. It’s very pale in colour with apples and nuts on the nose, and the palate is long with greengage and apple notes, and complex mineral undertones. A fine match with salmon, trout and goats cheese dishes.
