Kindzmarauli
A great example of one of Georgia’s most renowned wines; especially popular in the former Soviet Union, but very worthy of a wider audience. Produced only in the controlled micro-zone of Kindzmarauli in the Kakheti region, and made from 100% Saperavi grapes. The fermentation is stopped early by chilling, leaving just a touch of sweetness. This is balanced by fresh acidity typical of the Saperavi variety and some savoury tannins. It’s a medium-bodied and deliciously smooth wine, crimson pink in colour, with notes of red cherry and spice. Try it with chocolate cake, or with tasty cheeses and dried fruit.
